About the Role
We’re looking for a highly qualified Electrical Engineer with proven experience in designing large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS) ranging from 1 to 500+ MW, interconnected at medium-voltage levels. This role requires sound judgment, creativity, and technical expertise to adapt or improve existing processes and independently complete assignments. You will also receive guidance on complex or unique problems, while leading or mentoring others on the team.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical designs for utility-scale PV and BESS systems
- Prepare complete construction documentation, including drawings, reports, and specifications
- Design and review AC/DC systems, grounding, DAS wiring, and electrical layouts
- Perform and review supporting calculations: load flow, short-circuit, voltage drop, power loss, thermal analysis, etc.
- Review equipment submittals, respond to RFIs, and provide technical expertise to support construction
- Lead internal and external coordination with engineers, project managers, superintendents, general foremen, and clients
- Follow QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Attend site visits and technical meetings as needed
- Stay up to date on continuing education and maintain your license
- Promote CAD and design workflows throughout the team
About You
You are a problem-solver with in-depth knowledge of electrical systems and a passion for clean energy. You bring a combination of technical expertise, a commitment to taking ownership of projects, and the ability to mentor others.
Required Skills and Knowledge
Strong command of NEC and NESC codes for the design of commercial and utility-scale power systems
Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD
- ETAP or equivalent
- Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel and Word)
Required:
- Experience with PVsyst and Cymcap
- Experience as Engineer-of-Record
Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
Detail-oriented and able to work both independently and as a team leader
Ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Licensing: California PE license required
Experience: 5–7 years at an electrical design firm or design-build contractor (experience in solar preferred)
